Anthurium Variegated Dark Phoenix is a variegated sport of the standard ‘Dark Phoenix,’ a clone most commonly attributed to a hybrid of Anthurium papillilaminum and Anthurium ‘Ace of Spades,’ though some growers debate this parentage given its strong resemblance to pure papillilaminum forms. This stunning hybrid features broad, velvety foliage in deep emerald-green shades, splashed with striking variegation in creamy white, soft yellow, and sometimes silvery tones, with each leaf displaying its own unique pattern, collector-grade selection that builds on Dark Phoenix’s signature dark, velvety texture. This is a true sectoral (or “blocky”) chimeral variegation…large, irregular patches of cream, tan, and pale green replacing the leaf’s normal pigment in bold, high-contrast sections… rather than the fine, evenly distributed stippling or speckling typical of “mint” variegation; as a result, variegation on this plant can appear anywhere from a small marginal patch to nearly half the leaf, and coloring can shift from creamy white to soft gold or tan depending on light exposure. As a tissue culture plantlet, it will need careful acclimation with bright indirect light, high humidity, and a well-draining aroid mix to transition successfully into a mature specimen.
