Anthurium Portillae ‘Indo Type’ is a seed grown gorgeous seedling.  Historically somewhat mysterious member of the aroid world, first introduced to the hobby through Indonesian nurseries, distinct from the original ‘OG Portillae’ lineage that collector Dewey Fisk brought out of the northern forests of Ecuador in the 1990s, however neither form has received a formal scientific description.  New leaves emerge in a rich maroon-brown, deepening dramatically to near-black as they harden, before gradually settling into a deep green. The leaf shape is strikingly triangular, with bold lobes that flare outward as the plant matures, giving it an almost sculptural, wing-like presence that sets it apart from virtually anything else in a collection.

Anthurium ‘Dorayaki Silver’ × ‘Red Tiger’ is an Indonesian cross attributed to breeder Mr. Haji Ulih (HU), pairing two very different but complementary personalities within the collector aroid world. ‘Dorayaki Silver’ brings its now-familiar compact, near-circular crystallinum architecture, those almost perfectly round, velvety leaves with thick, luminescent silver venation form. ‘Red Tiger,’ also of Indonesian origin, is celebrated for an entirely different kind of drama: new leaves that unfurl in breathtaking shades of fiery red and deep copper before slowly maturing into dark, velvety green, carrying prominent bright venation that creates striking contrast against the lamina throughout the so-called “tiger stripe” effect that earned it its name.
