Orchid Rhyncholaeliocattleya Burdekin Wonder 'Lakeland' AM/AOS

Rhyncholaeliocattleya Burdekin Wonder is a Cattleya alliance hybrid originated by S. Scalia in 1987, a cross of Rlc. Donna Kimura × Rlc. Sylvia Fry.  The ‘Lakeland’ cultivar is among the grex’s most decorated selections, having earned four awards between 2000 and 2011,  including its AM/AOS recognition from the American Orchid Society. A classic standard cattleya type, it produces huge, frilly, fragrant white flowers measuring six to seven inches across, with just a touch of yellow in the throat, with full overlapping petals giving the bloom exceptional substance and a luxurious, rounded form. As with most Cattleya alliance hybrids, it grows best with bright filtered light, intermediate-to-warm temperatures, good airflow, and a drying period between waterings… conditions that reward growers with strong, heavily textured, richly fragrant blooms that can recur more than once a year.
