Anthurium Red Crystal x (Pap 'Soul Reaper’ x Sam’s Red)

Anthurium (Dark Red Crystallinum) × (Papillilaminum 'Tezula Soul Reaper' × Sam's Red) is an original cross bred here at Sunset Tropicals, pairing two heavily pigmented velvet Anthurium lines. The mother parent is SKG Dark Red Crystallinum, carries the deep burgundy toned foliage and silvery venation typical of selected Anthurium crystallinum. The pollen parent combines 'Tezula Soul Reaper,' a papillilaminum line bred by grower Tezula from Jay Vannini's RL × FS select form (referencing specific wild collected locality parents), with Sam's Red, a richly colored papillilaminum selection prized for its dark red new growth. As a young seedling, this cross is already showing the deep coloration and thick, glossy texture inherited from both sides of the pairing, with leaves emerging in warm olive green before the darker red and burgundy tones typical of its parentage develop with maturity. As with most first generation crosses, mature leaf shape, texture, and coloration will vary and continue to reveal themselves as the plant grows.  Both parent are pictured for reference.
