Anthurium Portillae ‘Indo Type’ is a somewhat mysterious member of the aroid world, first introduced to the hobby through Indonesian nurseries, distinct from the original ‘OG Portillae’ lineage that collector Dewey Fisk brought out of the northern forests of Ecuador in the 1990s, however neither form has received a formal scientific description. New leaves emerge in a rich maroon-brown, deepening dramatically to near-black as they harden, before gradually settling into a deep green. The leaf shape is strikingly triangular, with bold lobes that flare outward as the plant matures, giving it an almost sculptural, wing-like presence that sets it apart from virtually anything else in a collection.
