Anthurium King of Spades Butterfly TC (in vitro)

Anthurium ‘King of Spades Butterfly’ is a distinct selected form within the King of Spades line, distinguished from the standard KOS by its notably wider, flatter sinus, thick prominent veining, and dark, glossy foliage. Like its parent line, it traces back to Indonesian grower Haji Ulih (often shortened to ‘HU’), whose breeding program produced the original King of Spades hybrid, believed to descend from a cross involving Anthurium crystallinum and Anthurium magnificum.  You can find KOS seedlings, grown from seed, imported directly from Indonesia in the Sunset Tropicals shop on Palmstreet.  The KOS ‘Butterfly’ name reflects the shape variation that emerged as the KOS line proved genetically variable, with growers selecting and cloning individual plants for their especially broad, wing-like lobes. To own a King of Spades Butterfly is to hold a named selection within a modern hybridizing lineage still being sorted out clone by clone.

Plants are grown in a laboratory environment on nutrient-rich agar and have not yet been acclimated to greenhouse or household growing conditions. Upon receipt, buyers will be responsible for the acclimation process, including removal from the culture media and transition to appropriate humidity and growing conditions.

Plants may vary in size, leaf count, root development, and overall appearance. Minor cosmetic imperfections, condensation, or variations in growth are normal for tissue-cultured plants and do not affect viability.
