Anthurium ‘Dark Phoenix’ Variegated is a cultivated aroid selection within the Araceae family, derived from tropical Central and South American Anthurium lineages known for their ornamental foliage and complex genetics. This form is prized for its deep green to near-black leaf base coloration contrasted with unstable sectoral and marbled variegation that can express in shades of creamy white, pale yellow, or soft mint, with each new leaf emerging uniquely patterned due to irregular chlorophyll distribution. As a horticultural selection rather than a formally described species, it reflects modern breeding and clonal refinement within highly desirable Anthurium groups, often associated with velvet-leaf and Cardiolonchium-type ancestry. In cultivation, it performs best in warm temperatures, high humidity, bright indirect light, and a highly aerated yet moisture-retentive substrate, producing increasingly refined foliage when environmental conditions are stable and consistent.
This listing is for tissue culture (TC) plants shipped in-vitro within their original sterile culture media. Plants are grown in a laboratory environment on nutrient-rich agar and have not yet been acclimated to greenhouse or household growing conditions. Upon receipt, buyers will be responsible for the acclimation process, including removal from the culture media and transition to appropriate humidity and growing conditions.
