Alocasia Venom

Alocasia ‘Venom’ was discovered around 2019 by Mason Lee of Mason Plants in South Korea. It’s a spontaneous mutation of Alocasia ‘Amazonica’… itself a hybrid of A. longiloba × A. sanderiana created in 1950s Miami by Salvadore Mauro of Amazon Nursery. Mason Lee spent several years developing and stabilising the mutation before it began reaching the market around 2022.  The name ‘Venom’ refers to the dramatic curled leaf tip, which resembles a tail or fang-like extension, an unmistakable nod to the Marvel character.  Juvenile leaves emerge darker green, but as the plant matures the foliage develops its signature pale, matte, silvery-green finish. Veins appear slightly lighter than the surrounding tissue, creating subtle contrast.  Because this is a morphological mutation rather than a chimeric variegation, corm offspring reliably carry the mutation character.

Our plants are grown under professional greenhouse conditions in South Florida. These environments are carefully managed to promote healthy growth, strong root systems, and successful acclimation to a wide range of growing conditions.

Orders typically ship on Mondays via UPS or USPS, depending on destination and transit time. Most shipments can be sent using standard shipping; however, customers in western states may wish to upgrade to a faster service to minimize transit stress.
